The DELL XPS L702x features the Intel Core i7-2630QM processor at 2.0GHz, the NVIDIA GeForce GT 550M graphics, 6GB of DDR3 memory, a 640GB hard drive, a BD combo, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS.

The Dell Xps L702x 17" Touch Screen Laptop is a highly functional device that teems with brilliant features, with an emphasis on power and performance. Driven by a dynamic Intel Core Processor i7-2620QM, clocked at 2.7 GHz and running the Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium operating system, this laptop is ready to impress. A sizeable 8 Gb of Ram means you can rest assured that performance is never an afterthought on this model and a generous 1 Tb hard drive ensures that you have ample storage for your multimedia and documents Whether it is work or play, you will enjoy a vivid display on the Dell XPS L702X AC adapter high contrast.
This laptop is focus to the screen which taken care of by Nvidia’s Optimus switchable graphics technology with the GeForce GT 440M 1GB or GT450M 3GB graphics card provides an excellent plus high quality images. There is no info on pricing or availability so far.

The XPS L702x laptop integrates 3DTH Play Software for 3D Blu-ray playback, for a never-before viewing experience. Bring your media alive as well as youre your photos and videos with ease thanks to the NVIDIA performance graphics card of this Dell XPS L702x. Equipped with high-fidelity JBL® speakers with Waves MaxxAudio® 3, this Dell 3D notebook delivers a clear sound output. The XPS L702x laptop is Skype-certified and has it integrated into the system for helping you stay in touch with your near and dear ones. With NVIDIA Optimus technology, this Dell XPS 17 gives you an extended Dell XPS L702X battery life capacity. The Intel Turbo Boost Technology in this Dell 3D notebook automatically adjusts the processing speed according to the task you are doing.

Although role games are perceived as quite smooth in the third person perspective starting at 25 fps, the XPS 17 isn't strong enough for high details and quadruple anisotropic filtering in the native resolution. The GeForce GT 540M (17.2 fps) clearly has the lead on the GeForce GT 540M (17.2 fps), but the winner in Risen exceptionally is the Radeon HD 6850M (23.3 fps). If you want to explore the freely accessible island world in high details, you should use the resolution 1600x900.

The display subsystem is based on an NVIDIA chipset but has 3D playout functionality when connected to a suitable external display like most of the “lounge-room” TVs currently offered by most of the major manufacturers like LG, Samsung and Sony. It doesn’t seem to provide support for dual-mode “overdrive switch” in the review sample; but there are cheaper or better options that have this function but under automatic control using the Optimus feature in the new NVIDIA chipsets.

There’s two bays and came with two 750 GB @ 7200 RPM. I found them relatively noisy and kind-of slow, so I put in one of my old solid state drives and also added a new OCZ Vertex 3. The Vertex 3 uses the 6 Gbs bus and it rocks !! Lightning fast, and absolutely no noise. There was a problem with the Dell XPS L702X charger hanging for anywhere up to 30 seconds or so. Looking in the windows log I identified the problem as being the Intel SATA drivers so I uninstalled them, and since then it has been rock solid.

Weighing 9 pounds, 11 ounces with the power brick, and measuring nearly 2 inches thick in places, this is no HP Envy 17. Still, if you're looking for a capable, premium desktop replacement that can do everything, the Dell XPS L702X 3D fits the bill.

There are problems with the XPS, though, that can't be overlooked or remedied by spending more money. For a start, the large touchpad is a little too easy to accidentally knock as you type, meaning your cursor goes walkies at inconvenient moments. It also has noisy fans - the Dell is by far the noisiest of the laptops here - and as hard as the fans seem to be working, the left-hand side of the Dell JWPHF battery gets very hot, both underneath and to the side. This actually makes it uncomfortable to use for long periods.

This laptop sports a simple and original appearance with both a gray shell and black interior. Comes with Microsoft Office 2010 Starter includes limited versions of Word and Excel. It is possible to enjoy all the features of the Office suite by purchasing an activation card from Microsoft or from the reseller partners .

Dell XPS L702x Movies, games and more come to life on the Dell XPS 17 L702x X17L-3333ELS laptops featuring 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 550M graphics with Optimus Technology. Experience amazing visuals and incredible sound, powered by a fast 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-2430M 2.4GHz processor. High-fidelity JBL® speakers and Waves MaxxAudio® 3 technology make the Dell XPS L702x Notebook PC one of the loudest, clearest and cleanest sounding systems on the planet. The Dell XPS L702x is designed to keep you entertained for more than 9 hours with a 9-cell Dell XPS L702X battery.

Now i'll talk about gaming performance. This is one of the main reasons I chose this laptop. I chose the 3GB Nvidia GT 555m card, as I'm sure most people did. In the windows experience index I got a 6.9 for gaming graphics, which seems pretty good. When playing metro in max setting (dx10 + 1600x900 resolution), I get a decent frame rate of about 25 fps (slightly less in dx11), so I it should play almost all games in very high or high. People who ordered the i7 should get slightly better frames rates (not massively different though). In terms of loading times, I was surprised how well it performed. It loads all metro 2033 levels in max settings in around 4-5 seconds, so with an i7, I can only imagine how fast it is.

In return, the slightly sunken and rimmed by a narrow line touchpad, which can be deactivated, has to be seen as a success. Due to a generous size of 10 x 5.5 cm, even vast display distances can be crossed without problem. The smooth surface thrills with excellent gliding traits. The skin feel is very pleasant. The supported gestures are triggered reliably; there is nothing to reproach in terms of precision. Merely the touchpad keys weren’t able to convince us. The trigger quality
Dell JWPHF battery is quite soft and undefined.

The L702X comes with a selection of a few graphic cards. You could choose from either 1GB Nvidia GT550M GPU (with or without 3D) or 3GB Nvidia GT555M GPU (with or without 3D). Personally I would choose the later as it will provide a better frame rate when you are playing games. Since the GPU is soldered on the motherboard, you can't upgrade the graphics card, so unlike the XPS 16.

The Dell XPS L702X comes in at a fairly competitive price, though it still comes up short in key areas. 500GB seems small for a $1000-plus laptop and although the screen is very good the 3D capabilities are of limited appeal. But the design flaws of the Dell really make themselves obvious after a period of time; its qualities as a multimedia machine are overshadowed by noisy fans and heat issues.
